An Enjoyable Weekend I Have Experienced
- Nazira Farahin binti Mohd Jofaizal (4S4)

In Malaysia, there are many interesting places to visit such as Pantai
Santubong, Sarawak Culture Village. Gunung Kinabalu, A’Famosa, Genting
Highland, Pulau Pinang and many more. We can spend our holiday at one of the
places to release our stress, spending time with our family or even to relax
our mind from our busy life.
It took us about two hours along the road to go there. Before we reach our
destination, I saw many interesting view along the road. My family and I
enjoyed the view very much. As soon as we reach Pulau Siar, I was so
fascinated by the scenery of the beach. The sea water clean and so was the
sand. I just cannot wait to walk on the beach.
After that, we check-in the hotel. My parents took one room while my sisters
another. Inside, the room was decorated very beautifully and looked elegant.
I really love it. My younger sister wants to swim in the swimming pool but
before that, we had to take our nap because we need enough energy to swim in
the swimming pool.
After taking our nap, I put on my swimming suit. The swimming pool was not
that deep which suited me because I am not a very good swimmer after all. I
swam very happily because my family was there with me. After that, my father
brought us to walk on the beach. We played beach ball, building sand castle
and picked sea shell for souvenir. We played there until evening.
We went back to change our cloth. In the evening, we had our dinner at the
hall. It was a barbeque buffet. There was a lot of food and they tasted very
delicious. I ate a lot until my stomach was full. I bring some left over
food to the hotel.
After having our dinner, we played a game of snooker. It cost RM4.50 per
game. I was not very good at playing snooker because it was my first time,
compare to my father. He played a lot better than me. I also get the chance
to play a game of pin and I also was not very good at it. I always lose to
my sister. After the games, we went back to the hotel. I had a little talk
with my sister until we were fast asleep.
In the morning, we had our breakfast in the restaurant. The food was also
delicious. After that, we packed our thing because it was already time to go
home. We check-out of the hotel and went straight back home. Even though the
journey was tiring, I really enjoy our holidays. I hope to have an enjoyable
weekend like this again.
Reduce pollution! Reduce waste! Save our planet
- Sharon Kueh (5S1)

According to a recent research conducted by KOSMO, an average of 10 million
tans of rubbish are produced in a country each day! This huge amount of
rubbish is going to fill up the planet one day if action has not been taken.
Therefore, the government and many environmental associations are urged to
solve the problem. Many programs related to environment are organized. One
of the most familiar programs is the 3R Program, which stands for Reduce,
Reuse and Recycle. We, as normal citizens and also the occupiers of the
Earth are obligated to play our role and help to conserve the environment.
These are certain simple steps that could help to reduce pollution and
waste.
First, we should save electricity and water. As the world keeps modernizing,
more and more advance gadgets are invented to make human life more
comfortable. Most equipment require electricity, such as bulbs,
air-conditional, television, computer, refrigerator and many more. With
electricity, these incredible devices can work properly providing us a more
comfortable life without realizing whether it harms the planet. We should
first choose products that are no-frills. No-frills products keep our
environment clean and healthy. Besides, we must also try our best to save
electricity and water. We should switch off the lights and fans when we are
leaving the room, do not open the refrigerator too frequently, choose less
power electrical devices such as a 5 watt bulb is enough for toilet use. To
reduce water waste, we must always ensure there is no leakage of pipe in a
house, contain water in basin instead of using shower when bathing, or use
to contain water when brushing teeth. Water that is used to wash the rice
could be reused to water the plants. All these steps could reduce electrical
and water waste.
In addition, peoples are encouraged to use public transport such as bus,
LRT, and monorail could save our time and also reduce pollution. Neighbors
should practice car-pooling if their destinations are the same. In fact, it
could also lessen the traffic problems.
Housewives are encouraged to recycle household wastes. Food that can’t be
finish eaten can be used to feed the dogs and cats. Rubbish should also be
classified after being disposed. As we know, the three colors of recycle
bins represent different material. Dangerous waste should be dispose
carefully such as high-air pressure tank or medicine and drugs. These make
work easier for rubbish collectors and in the same time reduce waste.
In conclusion, we should be concern to issue regarding environment. This is
our home, save our home from becoming rubbish damp.
The Most Unforgettable Moment In My Life
- Limin (3A)

When I was in Form Two in SMK Bunga Raya, I failed my English Language
paper. This means, I totally failed my second semester examination. I really
could not believe what had happened to me. I scored the lowest mark in Paper
II. I convinced myself to be brave and asked our English Language teacher,
Madam Maryann.
“Teacher, 40% is D, right?” I asked.
“Yes,” she answered shortly.
“You deserved the mark. When I was teaching in front, you played and made
noise with your friends at the back there. Furthermore, you are sitting with
Joey, the naughtiest boy in the class.”
I felt ashamed of myself. I walked slowly to my desk. I began to cry. What
worries me was my father will get angry as soon as he find out I failed my
exam. Then, after a while, Juvie came.
“Ehem! Don’t cry. You are big enough to cry. Don’t you feel ashamed?
Everyone is looking at you,” she said.
But that made me cry.
“Ala… nobody’s perfect. Everyone faces failures in their life. You failed
once, doesn’t mean you’ll fail forever,” she added.
I had no response. She saw me kept on crying so she left me alone. I felt
guilty at that time. I remembered that I refused to my father’s decision
that he wanted to send me for tuition classes in town. Is that the reason
why I am like this? That made me kept on crying.
The bell rang indicates that it was recess time. Before Madam Maryann went
out, she took my English Language Paper II. After recess, I saw the paper on
my desk. I noticed that the mark have been increased. How happy i am at that
time because I get 62%. I passed my English Language examination. I also
find out that the reason Juvie talked to me just now was because Madam
Maryann asked her to. At that moment I realized that Madam Maryann still
cared for me despite my behaviour.
I have learnt my lesson through that incident. I promise I will study hard
in future examinations.
Who Am I 2020?
- Joan Lim (3A)

Wow, the year in 2020 is totally different from what I have seen before. My
dream comes true and I am too delighted as I can start to do some beneficial
work for our country.
I am now a dedicated lecturer who teaches in University Malaya. The place
has a big change from what I have seen during the trip to University Malaya
when I was young. Today, all the facilities the university has increased
with the use of new technology. There are no more workers who help to clean
the toilets, classroom or do business in the canteen. All these jobs have
been replaced by the robot. They can walk here and there to do the cleaning
chores. Even the nurse in the clinic is also replaced by the high technique
robot. Students can just press on the button and type their problems in the
stomach of the robot. Later, it will reply the answer through its mouth. It
is really interesting and bring convenient for all of us in the university.
The robot nurse can serve the patients medication and accompany them to give
them emotional support, one nurse to one patient. It is big surprise to see
many nurses in the health clinic.
My life is very free as I do not need to go to university. I just need to go
online through the internet at my home. Students will send their assignment
for me through email. It is much more easier than the days when I was
studying in the uncomfortable and hot classroom. The modern technology world
have bring convenient to all citizens especially the invention of small
sized of computer. It almost looked like a pencil case. I can always
communicate with my students anywhere I go. It is too interesting and this
invention is beyond my expectation.
In the year 2020, I am 28 years old and have a husband. He is neither a
giant nor dwarf, not so plum and not so thin, have a pair of big eyes which
shines his love from the deep heart’s core, he is a doctor who become the
symbol of dedication to the sick people. After three years married, we
successfully have a pretty young daughter. We stayed in a happy home which
located at Bangi, Selangor. Our condominium has beautiful design and the
furniture is in the shape of all types of fruits. We have a robot as our
maid. Our television can obey our command and it will come to me when I need
it.
Apart from that, the foods in the year 2020 are rich in nutrients. It
consists of vitamin, carbohydrates, protein, fat, mineral, fiber and water.
These seven classes of food are combined to form one tablet of medicine. We
just have to take three tablets each day as it is more powerful than what we
have ate in the past years. It can give us twice the energy and we do not
always feel hungry like now. Therefore health problems always decrease and
my husband is not that busy. We have more time to stay with each other and
we lead a happy and prosperous life. My husband use jet to go and visit his
patients when necessary. He sometimes has to fly to American to and fro in
order to treat his patient. Now there is no traffic jam on the road but in
the air. Everybody is traveling by jet and air bus.
Besides that, we do not have to spent time buying things in the shop. We
only have to……… Suddenly, I felt shock when somebody shaking me. “Mina, come
take your lunch. We have no time or mum and dad will be trap in the traffic
jam.:” I quickly wake up and realized that it was just a dream. I wish that
my dream will come true in the future.
Pollutions
- Joan Lim (3A)

Pollutions are now becoming the hottest issue in our country. Actually, what
is pollution? I believe that not all of the citizens understand the meaning
of pollution. If they do, why should our country suffer like this? According
to the Oxford Dictionary, pollution is the presence of harmful effect to
people, animals, plants, and habitats.
Nowadays, we can see that there is no longer clean river and fresh air in
Malaysia. The leaking of oil from the tanker will kill the aquatic habitats
which will eventually affect our source of food. Besides that, factories
that discharge harmful chemical substances into the sea or river will
pollute our source of water and thus influence our health. People who
irresponsible like to throw rubbish into the near-by river for their own
convenience. All of these are the causes of water pollution which can be
clearly seen in Malaysia.
Apart from that, we can also feel that our surrounding temperature is
getting higher. The ozone layer is thinning and this is the effect of
open-burning. Not only that, illegal logging has become more serious and
this will also causes air pollution as the oxygen decrease. Smoke from power
stations usually contains sulphur dioxide which will eventually influence
our health. The exhaust gas from a vehicle also contain carbon monoxide.
These gases are harmful to our health. The effect of air pollution can be
seen when the rate of sickness has increased over the year. In addition,
factories which discharge harmful smoke can cause acid rain that will kill
fish, destroyed trees and eroded stonework.
Sound pollution is another effect cause by human’s own attitude. The noises
from the factories, mechanic shop, vehicles, or aeroplanes make us feel
uncomfortable. People will easily feel stress and cannot concentrate on
their work. They cannot sleep well thus easily feel tired and hot-tempered.
These pollutions usually occur in the city. Sickness like hypotenuse
increase and is very common among the people in Malaysia.
To save our world from being destroyed by these irresponsible people,
governments should organize more campaigns about the way to treat the
environment wisely. In addition, we should support the recycling campaign in
order to reduce the use of natural resources. Apart from that, governments
should also tighten the laws so that people will not practice open burning.
Parents also play an important role to educate their children about
pollution as to overcome these problems.
However, I hope that all the citizens will lend out hands to co-operate with
the government so that these problems can be reduced and rescued as fast as
possible. Perhaps our country will be the first in the world to be free of
pollutions in the future.
“……If only I had been more careful, that wouldn’t have
happened.”
- Ian Zachariah (5S1)

I smiled whenever I recall back what had happened 4 years ago. This incident
happened when I was in form 2. I went camping with the boy scouts. The night
before the camping, I was so excited as this was the first time I’m going
camping.
Sam and I were best of friends. We entered the boys scout together. When, we
were in the bus, heading to the camping site, we chatted. We talk about
friends, family and other things. Sam, he was a very quite person. When I
first saw him in the class, he didn’t talk much. Not until when I befriended
him. I saw many changes in him. He became more talkative and friendly. In
the bus, when I told him I brought along a bible, he just sneered at me and
said,” Why? Are you afraid of ghost? ” .Then answered him back with an angry
tone,” You’re not supposed to be laughing about this matter.” He just smiled
and apologized. Soon, we are singing songs in the bus, with the other boy
scouts. I simply cannot forget when the other made fun of me, for my voice
sounded like a frog. They mimicked the sound of a frog,” croak, croak,
croak. ” Sam bursts into laugher with tears in his eyes, for not being able
to stand it anymore, me too, joined the others laughing.
It’s half past noon. We’re already setting up our tent, while the others
were divided into groups. Some of them are looking for fire woods, while
some were cooking. I was tantalized at seeing the food they were looking.
So, I told Sam,” My stomach is very angry with me, I hadn’t feed it since
this morning.” Sam, responded back with a joke,” How come your stomach is
angry?” The next thing I knew, I punched him in the middle and both of us
laughed. Later, we ate together under a tall and wide tree. Sam, finishing
his lunch said,” I think, there is no ghost here, relax and don’t be afraid,
dude.” Upon hearing this, I gave him a stare, and knowing by the expressions
on my face, he said: “okay, okay .I’m sorry, I was just kidding”. For a
moment both of us went silent.
Our camping went on for three days with lots of interesting activities. We
had a campfire singing competition and for all of us knew, Sam won the
competition, as he can sing very well. Then, we had this game where our
tasks were to make a bench. A very long one, and we could only use bamboo.
This activity was very interesting, as it challenged our criteria,
creativity and thinking skills. Unfortunately for us, we lost to another
group. On the night of the last day, I signed gratefully, because there no
unwanted incident happened. However, an accident happened to Sam. As Sam and
I were walking past a river, some kind of white and cold wet cloth brunched
against my cheek. I known for being a coward, just screamed and my
torchlight was thrown backward and ran all the way to the camp site. Still
shocked with what was happening, at a distance I somehow saw an angry face.
It was Sam, my torchlight had hit his head and he was bleeding. Sam scolded
me, and then he pulled out a white bandana. He said, he found it hanging on
a tree branch. My face went red as I was ashamed of myself.
The next day, Sam went home with bandages all over his head. After that
incident I learned not to be superstitious. Sam and I are still best friends
till today. I had my lesson, if only I had been more careful, that wouldn’t
have happened.
How To Reduce Pollution And Waste
- Victor Sung (5S1)

On the 7th March 2007, we had been given a task by our Biology teacher to do
a research on how to reduce pollution and waste products. Our results are as
such as below:
First at all, we must use no-frills products. Using frill products would
encourage the poachers to do illegal hunting. Animal like rhinoceros,
elephant and tiger are often been hunted for their body part to be made into
accessories just for men to show off. If we rejected these products,
indirectly we would help to decrease the chances of these animals from been
hunted and thus preventing them from being extinct.
Secondly, we must try to save electricity and water. A few example of this
is, turn off the light on a sunny day, turn off the fan on a windy day, and
turn off the water tap when we are not using it. By doing so, not only can
we save up when paying the bills, but are also preserving Mother Nature’s
resources.
Besides that, we should also practice using public transport. As we all know
that, vehicles from the road often emit exhaust gases that pollute our
environment. By encouraging the use of public transport, we can reduce the
amount of cars on the road and thus reducing air pollution.
Other than that, we must also practice recycling. Household materials such
as plastic bottles, aluminums can, papers and many more should be recycled
to save up natural resources. Finally, we should dispose dangerous waste
properly. Gadgets or electronic device such as computer should not be
disposed off simply as the material inside are harmful to the environment.
Factories and vehicles should also treat the exhaust gas they release into
the air by installing catalytic converters to neutralize them. This goes the
same for factories that dispose dangerous wastes by water to the river. This
act would endanger the life of aquatic living things as well as those who
consume them for food.
In conclusion, we must prevent our earth from being polluted as it brings
various negative effects to us human and the environment. After all, we
human are the only intelligent being on this earth. If we do not stop the
pollution, who would?

Qualities Of A Good Teacher
- Steffi Graff ak Rahnie (6RK1)

Teachers are the ones who are responsible to teach every one of us about
knowledge. To be like one, a good teacher should have these qualities in
order to become a good teacher. These qualities are being diligent, be
committed and perseverance.
First, being a good teacher, one should possess this quality – being
diligent. By being diligent, the teacher will give a good example to his
students. The teacher should also be a hardworking person so that they will
produce good quality students.
Besides that, another trait one should have in order to become a good
teacher is being committed. A teacher must be committed with his teaching so
that his students will be knowledgeable. Moreover, a good teacher should
also be accountable albeit, help those who are weak in their studies and by
helping them in their studies will improve them to become creative students.
Thus, a tutor must also be able to persevere enough to handle those naughty
students. By doing so, students will respect their teachers. A good teacher
should also be able to control his emotions while dealing the students who
made mistakes. One must also be a good and patient individual in handling
all kinds of problems that students do.
Besides the qualities that had been mentioned above, a good teacher must be
well-versed too. Being well-versed in their arena is a crucial
characteristic of a good teacher. An English teacher should never make any
mistakes in their teaching albeit by using wrong tenses while speaking or by
giving incorrect information. An English teacher should be very skillful in
the four skills that are speaking, reading listening and writing. By making
no mistakes in their teaching enable students to become more knowledgeable.
Further, to keep track of the “avant garde” strategies of teaching by
attending courses is also an overall stuff of a quality teacher. By
undergoing courses enable to help them to gain more knowledge or skills on
how to teach their students more efficiently.
However, a good teacher must also have a humane quality. A humane teacher is
a very understanding one. Also, they must be polite and humble. Besides
that, a good teacher is also a caring and loving person. He cares for his
students’ needs, especially if his student is sick. Moreover, a quality
teacher must be flexible. A flexible teacher is willing to negotiate with
his students. A good teacher can also be an inspiration or a role model to
his students. Hence, he should show a good example to his students. Lastly,
a teacher can also be a good motivator to his students.
Lastly, an extra quality of a good teacher is that he enjoys teaching. He is
also able to make the class more conducive to study and able to give lots of
experience to their studies. If teachers were to have the qualities or
traits as mentioned above, a lot of the problems that are disclosed and
discussed in the media and elsewhere will be arrested. It is therefore
important that when trainee-teachers undergo their teacher training program,
they should be taught the importance of acquiring qualities which will
enable them to perform well in their profession.
How Can Television Help Students In Their Studies?
- Choo Guey Jing (5S1)

Can you imagine a world without television? Surely our lives will become
topsy-turvy and the information will not be able to reach man kind.
Television is very important in giving information and improves
communicative skills. However, some people say that television can influence
the achievements or results of the students. Instead, television is a medium
which can help students in their studies. But how?
Firstly, television provides the language skills to the students especially
the English language. Nowadays, English is very important to us. Students
can get the language skills through the channels of Sesame Street and
Playhouse Disney. There is o secret that the ability of listening will not
be improved as well as the grammar and speaking skills.
Secondly, television provides education and knowledge in the fields of
science and technology. Students can get this information through the
channels of National Geography, Discoveries, TV IQ and other important
channels. From these channels, students will have a wide scope and view of
development in science and technology. Students can adapt these developments
and provide new theories to their country one day.
Next, television can also make the learning and studies become more
interesting and fun. Usually, the illustrations and images produced on the
screen will attract the attention of students. Students can obtain the
knowledge from programs such as Learning For Fun, Simple Mathematics,
Alphabets and much more. With the help of these programs, students can
easily gained the knowledge and memorize them. Thus, they will feel more
carefree, open-minded, and able to improve their learning skills. There is
no doubt that students who are either in lower or higher form will never
give up and be bored in their studies.
In addition, students can get knowledge from the engineering fields through
television. In channels like Art, Engineering or Inventor, students will
improve in their producing and creating skills. Students will even become
more creative and innovative in this field. Eventually, they can become
engineers, architects or graphic designers in future. Besides, students will
put these careers as their main objectives that they want to achieve in
future.
From television, students are able to obtain social, economic and political
events of the world. Students have the opportunity to watch these events
from news as well as the issues that happened around the world. In addition,
students can be exposed to the development and civilization of one’s
country. In this case, it will contribute and produce knowledgeable people.
In conclusion, television is so useful to the students especially those who
are fast learners. Television also plays an important role in education and
also communication. There is no hard-and-fast rule that states that
television will deteriorate the achievement of students. Actually, it
depends on how it is used. So, we must not do away with television as it is
a medium of communication and education that can help students in their
studies.

Goodbye SMK Serian
Day by day time passed away
And it’s only a few months left
For me to stay
Leaving behind the happy and carefree
Days of school
The glorious school day will soon be over
But I will always remember them
And keep them as a treasure
In my life
- Catherine anak Pangky (5K2)
Love
Love…
is only a short word
meaningful for ever
innocent hearts being ripped
by the unquenchable wave of worries
by the never-ending desire
Love…
is easy to say
yet difficult to express
this heart seems in doubt
searching for the perfect one
to be loved for life
When you fall in love
it feels wonderful
such as a beggar get money falling from the sky
But REMEMBER
love can also make u regret
lead us astray from the warm reality
So….
don’t take it easy
always appreciate those around you
and those close to you
And they will brighten your life.
- Scorvia (3A)
Teachers
As children we can’t comprehend
Or fully understand
The meaning of our teacher’s love
So tender and so wise
Their patience and forgiveness that
Never cease to amaze us
The unexpected lovely surprises
They bring in the most unexpected moment
Much time goes by before we know
The depth of their concern
The love in their discipline
But with true joy we learn
How wonderful have things became
As we look back
Through the years and comprehend
Their love and dedication
These are among many other things
That makes them grow so dear
With every thought and memory
With every passing year
And some of you would surely know
That every line above
Is meant especially for you
And signed with lots of love

Memories of My School
Wake up early to prepare ourselves,
For going to school is what students do,
When we reach there late in time,
Our hearts just keep on pounding,
For fear of being scolded.
Time has passed but has not changed,
Still the same old school which I've been,
Before you know it SPM exams will begin,
Leaving us with unforgettable memories,
Some happy, some sad.
Yes, indeed the school is our foundation,
A foundation of knowledge,
To face the world of challenges,
To become a successful person,
Just as we're taught in school.
As I walked past the school,
The old memories came flooding back,
The place where we've been taught,
From the very beginning till the end,
Where we had friends that we never had before.
Those memories could not be erased,
Always on top of our minds,
Always stay on for the rest of our lives,
And become a part of us now and forevermore.
- Catherine anak Pangky (5K2)
I Am Not Perfect
I’m so bored today
And I don’t know why
I try to walk away
But nothing can change my mood.
Hey! My friends outside there
Come meet me here
I am alone
Nobody wants to talk to me
The people around make me sick
They always blame me
They talk the bad thing about me.
But….I don’t care about it anymore
Everything you said about me
Make me become very strong
Most of the people said “Nobody is perfect!”
But! What's wrong with them now
They think they are right, what a shame!
The stupid people never die
I try to be perfect
But nothing will make me happy
However, in one lucky day…it’s amazing!!
I become very successful
Just because of him or her
A person who brings me
Into a great life……
